Dickinson Avenue Improvements

Project Details

Fred Smith Company took over as prime contractor for NCDOT’s improvements to 1.3 miles of Dickinson Avenue between N.C. 11 and Reade Circle in Greenville.

The project includes rebuilding portions of the roadway and its underlying subgrade, improving storm drainage, replacing water and sewer lines, and completing new curbs, sidewalks, asphalt paving, landscaping, and streetscape features. Approximately 15,000 tons of asphalt are being placed across the corridor.

Construction was divided into sections to help crews coordinate utility work, manage traffic, and maintain access through an active urban corridor. The improvements are designed to reduce flooding, strengthen the roadway, create better pedestrian connections, and support the continued growth of Greenville’s Uptown district.
