Progress Continues on the Old Stage Road Widening

Fred Smith Company teams are making steady progress on the widening of Old Stage Road. The project will add two travel lanes, realign the intersection at Rock Service Road, and add turn lanes at Banks Road.
Before new pavement can be placed, crews must prepare the corridor and build the infrastructure that will support the finished roadway. The project requires extensive drainage, earthwork, curb construction, and asphalt paving, all carefully coordinated as work advances.
The full scope includes:
- 7,300 linear feet of drainage pipe
- 60 drainage structures
- Approximately 20,000 tons of asphalt
- Approximately 12,500 linear feet of curb
- Approximately 17,000 cubic yards of earthwork
Each phase depends on detailed planning, clear communication, and teams working together safely in changing jobsite conditions.
Thank you to everyone helping move this important project forward. The progress taking shape on Old Stage Road reflects the hard work, skill, and dedication our teams bring to the job every day.
