Fred Smith Company is proud to announce that highway construction will begin early next month for its resurfacing and rehabilitation contract along I-440 from Lake Boone Trail to Wake Forest Rd. This much-needed project will improve safety and smooth travel for thousands of daily commuters who rely on this stretch of road.
“We are honored to play a part in improving our state’s infrastructure,” said Vice President – Triangle Division, Reade Dawson.
“This is a large project, and there are many moving parts, so it’s critical for the contractor and the community to work together. Fred Smith Company has been working closely with local officials to ensure that the construction process is communicated to the community and traveling motorists. Strong communication is key to protecting our builders and the public.”
Under this contract, we will improve the safety and mobility of motorists by repairing and resurfacing 5.15 miles of damaged pavement and upgrading drainage, guardrail, signage, and bridge rehabilitation. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2024. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve this vital corridor. Together, we can make this project a success.
