C.C. Mangum was founded by Cleve and Callie Mangum
1953
Bill Mangum becomes CEO of C.C. Mangum Company
1962
C.C. Mangum Company builds first asphalt plant
1972
C.C. Mangum Company builds second asphalt plant
2004
Fred Smith becomes CEO of C.C. Mangum Company
2009
The Smith family acquires C.C. Mangum Company and rebrands it as Fred Smith Company
2011
Construction Partners, Inc. (CPI) acquires Fred Smith Company and adds two additional asphalt plants located in the Triangle
2020
Fred Smith Company acquires Riley Paving, Rose Brothers Paving, Gelder & Associates, and R.P.C. Contracting - adding nine additional asphalt plants
2021
Fred Smith Company acquires PLT Construction
2022
Fred Smith Company acquires Southern Asphalt
2024
Fred Smith Company acquires Hudson Paving and has expanded to 17 asphalt plants and over 1,200 employees - offering meaningful careers throughout North Carolina
